Not sure why one would need to clean/oil the metal too often. Oxygen and water in air is probably more a risk. Store it with the correct desiccant bag (s). Citizens for 2A. Learned about this stuff years ago, could buy a set of chrome wheels that were rusted up and looked like hell soak them in Naval Jelly and they would come out looking great.
